About Me

Hi everyone. I’m Avi.

Basics

I was born in NYC, raised in Tel Aviv and Los Angeles, and currently live in Seattle with my family (see below). I moved around a lot as a kid and went to a bunch of different schools, but grajuating from Berkeley is where I finally learned how to read good and right real good too.

My Family

I’m a family man. My wife and I have two children and a dog. His name is Charlie. The kid’s name are…their names are…the first one, he’s so cute, his name is…so anyway my wife’s name is Casey. I think she spells it Kasey.

I Have Depression

I mention this only because mental health is a central theme of my book and my blog articles.

My Writing

I’ve always been fascinated by concepts like confidence, self-assurance, ability, success, motivation and (ugh) happiness. As a 25-year self-help addict, the main question I’ve tried to answer for myself is why self-help books always made me feel like shit about myself? Was it something in the water? Was it me? My writing is largely devoted to exploring those questions.

My Book

Will be out in May 2021. You can read a sneak peek here. Depending on when you’re reading this, it’s either in the first editing phase, getting ready for final publication, having the cover art designed, or still being scrubbed for any trace of plagiarism.

Famous Quotes

In reading my blogs, you’ll soon discover I have a passion for quotes. Ever since high school when my English teacher had us memorize Lincoln’s famous lines, I’ve had a thing for pithy sayings. My favorite at the time was, “Things come to those who wait, but only those things left by those who hustle.” I was 16 at the time. 30 years and two children later, I have a new favorite:

“I can’t go on; I must go on.”
–Samuel Beckett.

My Blog

It’s for you. With love. From me.
